Cast your ballot for Officer and Board Candidates

PRSA Tampa Bay Chapter is pleased to present the slate of officers for 2012. PRSA Tampa Bay Chapter members, please:

Noelle Anderson, APRCandidate for President-Elect: Noelle Anderson, APR
Noelle Anderson, APR, is the President and Principal of True Blue Communications, a public relations and integrated marketing communications firm in Tampa. She has dedicated her professional life to the study, practice and advocacy of effective, ethical public relations and communications.

Noelle has been very involved in the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America for the past several years. She served as the chapter secretary in 2011, treasurer from 2007-2008, on the board of directors from 2009-2010, and has chaired and served on a number of committees, including serving as a Membership Committee Chair from 2009-2010.

Noelle graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations and a minor in English.

Bobby EagleCandidate for Secretary: Bobby Eagle
Bobby Eagle currently serves as public relations manager at Tampa-based mobile technology firm Syniverse, where he manages global communications to internal and external audiences. In addition to Syniverse, Bobby’s public relations experience includes time working for a minor league hockey team, the Greensboro Generals, as well as for agency the Glasure Group.

Notably, Bobby was selected to participate in PRSSA’s national Bateman Public Relations Case Study Competition serving as one of five team members at the University of Florida, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in public relations.

Lisa Braswell, APRCandidate for Treasurer: Lisa Braswell, APR
With more than 15 years’ experience in writing and communications, Lisa has spent the last five years pursuing her passion for helping local non-profits better connect with their constituents. She has led the public relations function for a variety of Tampa Bay’s non-profit organizations, including The Children’s Home, the Florida Division of the American Cancer Society, St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation, and most recently, the Franciscan Center. Currently she is a marketing consultant with Integral Quality Care, a non-profit Medicaid health plan that serves members throughout Central Florida.

Lisa received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida. In 2009, she earned her accreditation in public relations. She is active with the Tampa Bay chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and has served as treasurer and committee chair for student relations.

A Florida native, Lisa lives in Tampa and enjoys kayaking on the weekends as well as volunteering with Hands on Tampa and the Heart Gallery of Tampa Bay.

Dena GregoryCandidate for Board of Directors (one year term): Dena Gregory
Dena Gregory is corporate communications strategist for Publix Super Markets. A 22-year veteran of Publix, Dena manages the company’s award-winning monthly associate news magazine, as well as other internal communication vehicles, including the company’s intranet and benefits communication materials. Prior to joining Publix’s corporate communications department, Dena was a community development associate for First Step in Sarasota and later the communications manager for the Tampa Bay chapter of March of Dimes Tampa Bay. Dena received her bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Florida in 1995.

Statement: Over the past 16 years, I’ve grown personally and professionally with the help of PRSA. For the Tampa Bay Chapter, I’ve served on the job site, professional development and scholarship committees, and as treasurer (2002), president (2004), secretary (2009-2010) and currently board member. By continuing my seat as board member, I will represent the chapter members and add to the skills and knowledge of the board as a whole.

Michelle BauerCandidate for Board of Directors (three year term): Michelle Bauer
Michelle is the Founder and Chief Strategist of Common Language, Inc., a public relations and strategic communications practice located in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Michelle’s career spans over twenty years and includes business to consumer, business to business, and nonprofit expertise.  She has led marketing, communications, research, and conference development initiatives for a variety of clients in the technology, healthcare, design, education, and consumer products industries.  Clients include the Tampa Bay Technology Forum, Ringling College of Art and Design, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Bisk Education, Infusion Brands, SunOpta, Inc., Haneke Design, Catalina Marketing, and many others.

Prior to founding Common Language, Michelle was a partner with Sextant Marketing Group, where she directed the firm’s strategic consulting and communications practices. In the early 2000s, she served as the founding Executive Director of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum, a professional association dedicated to growing Tampa Bay’s technology businesses and promoting the region as a major center of entrepreneurship and innovation. During her tenure, the organization grew to nearly 300 member companies serving thousands of professionals in the region’s technology and business communities.

Always active in non-profit organizations, Michelle co-founded CreativeTampaBay, a nonprofit organization designed to fuel the region’s creative industries by acting as a catalyst for the technology, arts, culture, science, and business communities. Most recently, she co-founded, an initiative designed to help advance scientific research by connecting donors with scientists directly.

Michelle has co-developed, launched, and produced several influential business conferences including the Creative Cities Summit, The Florida Tech Transfer Conference, the Sarasota International Design Summit, and the Florida Boomer Lifestyle Conference.

Michelle holds Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees in English from the University of South Florida.  She is very active in the community and serves on the boards of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the International Mature Marketing Network.  Michelle lives and works in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida.

Betty CarlinCandidate for Board of Directors (three year term): Betty S. Carlin
Betty S. Carlin serves as Vice President, Marketing & Communications with the Tampa Bay Partnership. In this role, she is responsible for creative implementation of the group’s marketing and communications efforts including brand advertising, media relations, multi-level communications, direct mail, trade shows, and electronic marketing including the organization’s two Web sites, and

The Tampa Bay Partnership is the regional organization that brings the communities of Tampa Bay together through advocacy, marketing, research and leadership. Founded in 1994, the Tampa Bay Partnership is the only entity that provides regional economic development for the entire eight-county, 6,515-square-mile area of west central Florida which includes the metro areas of Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Lakeland, and Sarasota/Bradenton/Venice and the counties of Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Sarasota.

Ms. Carlin has more than 25 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications and marketing management with extensive expertise in media relations, crisis management and multi-level communications. Since joining the Partnership in 2003, she has been responsible for strategic communications, messaging and positioning of the Partnership’s many initiatives to key stakeholders and target market segments. Prior to joining the Partnership, Ms. Carlin served as Vice President/Corporate Communications for National Planning Holdings, a $5 billion broker-dealer holding company, where she was responsible for all media relations and strategic communications for the firm’s four broker dealers located across the country. She previously served in statewide marketing management roles with Fortune Bank and Crosland Savings, and served as President of Taylor & Associates, a Tampa-based public relations firm.

A long-time resident of the Tampa Bay area, MS Carlin has served in leadership roles innumerous community and trade associations. She is a past officer and board member of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America as well as a two time winner of the Chapter Service Award. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a degree in Mass Communications/ Journalism.

Diane Jones, MPA, APRCandidate for Assembly Delegate (three year term): Diane W. Jones, MPA, APR
Diane Jones is a public relations and marketing professional with over 15 years of experience in both the private sector and local government. She is currently the President of her own company, DJ Public Relations, Inc. Prior to opening her own company, Diane spent a short time as the agency director of the Environmental PR Group, a boutique public relations agency in Tampa, and she spent four years as the Public Communications Manager for Pasco County, Florida. Before working for Pasco County, Diane spent over eight years at AAA Auto Club South in Tampa, leaving as the Director of Public and Government Relations.

Diane is a very active member of both the Tampa Bay Chapter of PRSA and the PRSA Sunshine District. She is currently a Board Director of the Tampa Bay Chapter and has held several other positions in the past including Chapter President and Treasurer. She is also currently the Chair-Elect of the PRSA Sunshine District, which includes the entire state of Florida. She will be Chair of the Sunshine District in 2012.

Diane has a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of South Florida. She is also an accredited member of PRSA.

The 2012 Officers and Board will be announced at the November 3 breakfast with Steve Hayes, Executive Vice President of Tampa Bay & Company, at Marriott Westshore.
