PRSA Tampa Bay mourns the loss of Deanne Roberts, APR

January 13, 2012

Deanne Roberts, APRDeanne Dewey Roberts, APR was a longtime member of Tampa’s public relations and advertising community, past president of PRSA Tampa Bay, community leader and civic contributor. She passed away January 12, 2012 after a long-term battle with cancer.

Her contributions to PRSA Tampa Bay and to the PR community were great. Deanne met with practitioners that were new to town and helped them get acclimated. She met regularly with reporters to discuss issues to help them stay in tune with the business community.

She was also a wonderful supporter of the University of South Florida and its Mass Communications-Public Relations programs. She championed young professionals and was a mentor to many. In true Deanne style, one of her legacies is an endowment fund at USF School of Mass Communications. She was passionate about ensuring future generations of students who may need financial help could have a voice through a communications education.

A consummate professional and wonderful lady — Deanne will be missed by many, including her two sons, her brother and her ChappellRoberts work family.

A service for Deanne will take place at 5 p.m. Jan. 18 at Unity of Tampa Church, 3302 W Horatio Ave. in Tampa.

Her contributions to the Chapter and to the PR community were great. Deanne met with practitioners that were new to town and helped them get acclimated. She met regularly with reporters to discuss issues to help them stay in tune with the business community.
